General DivCon Strategies

While there are numerous papers that discuss the theoretical basis of DivCon (see bibliography on page [*]), the text in this chapter will discuss the general ``rules of thumb'' the user should know to get maximum use out of the DivCon application. While specific strategies, such as QMScore will be discussed in Chapter [*], this chapter will focus on general background areas that can be used in all DivCon applications. Of particular importance is the understanding of what DivCon is doing at any time during the simulation, and what if anything the user can do to speed up the process. After reading this chapter, the user should be able to understand the screen output, make sense of the convergence characteristics of his or her system, and determine what can be done to improve chances for success.
